Sleep and the worried mind

At night, the mind loses its usual work. It goes looking for a job. Worry is happy to volunteer.
Keep a small notebook by the bed. When a thought insists on being solved, write it down. You're not agreeing to fix it — you're telling it: I will meet you in the morning.
If you're awake for more than twenty minutes, get up. Sit somewhere dim. Read something gentle. Return only when your body says it's ready. Bed is for sleep, not for negotiating with the ceiling.
